Fire Proof Shelters use a specially designed High Density Pre cast Concrete built from 40mpa concrete and goes through an intensive vibration procedure to maximize the density and strength. Our concrete fire bunkers are designed to be installed underground at a minimum depth of 400 – 900mm. This is the only way to minimize the effect of radiant heat since the ground offers excellent insulation properties. |
Announcing the New Side Entry Fire Proof Shelter With Double 4 Hour Fire Doors!
Why double fire doors?
One of the most critical points you need to understand about fire doors is how the rating system really works. A 4 hour fire door is rated to not fail and burn for up to 4 hours under the testing conditions which normally applies to fires in buildings and not bush fires.
Will a 4 Hour Fire Door Protect my valuables for 4 Hours?
What this doesn’t tell you is even the best fire doors available have a limited thermal protection rating, meaning they will prevent heat from passing through for up to 30 minutes after which heat will begin to enter.
One thing we do know for sure is having TWO FIRE DOORS is exponentially safer and will provide the safest possible protection againstĀ the extraordinary temperatures that can be experienced in massive bush fires.
For example; if the first fire door was subject to extreme temperatures and after 30 minutes allowed even 100deg to pass through, however with a second Fire Door that heat would be completely prevented from entering the main Fire Bunker chamber. Not only that but you now have two sets of fire proof seals to stop smoke entering!
The new Side Entry Fire Shelter has the breakthrough Dual Fire Door System, making it the safest Fire Storage Shelter Design in Australia!

Did you get my question re-the drainage issue from helo tanker water dropped on top of the entry door from the swimming pool?

Hi Cameron,
The drainage issue would present only a small inconvenience if the drop is made over the top entry shelter. the 300mm riser would fill with water as we have tested by filling it up, and opening the fire door is still quite easy; you do get wet but that is not so bad if it’s 40deg outside.
The resultant amount of water that gets into the shelter is very minor and barely covers the floor.
My preference is for a side entry shelter which is not affected by any of this.
