Fire Bunkers or Fire Proof Shelters that we install are rated to 3 hours in an exposed situation, but the reason we only install Fire Bunkers underground is the Fire rating doesn’t account for the temperature inside the Fire Bunker.

The earth is an excellent insulator and setting the fire bunker at least 300mm underground offers multiple times the insulation factor and fire rating of the Concrete structure.

Most bush fires sustain their maximum radiant heat for less than 30 -40 minutes providing the fire bunker is placed away form heavy growth, which we insist on. This means that the Fire Bunkers cannot heat up excessively and you have plenty of air.
